With director Colin Trevorrow’s departure from Lucasfilms’ Star Wars: Episode IX, the franchise is now in search for a replacement. There were several rumors regarding the director’s decision to leave his job as the film’s director.
A lot have speculated that it was mostly due to Lucasfims requiring Trevorrow to rewrite the scripts. Not just once or twice. Trevorrow has been asked to rewrite scripts multiple times according to reports. The two parties do not share the same vision.
There were also rumors about the director not being able to retain a smooth relationship with Lucasfilms’ Kathleen Kennedy. In response to many theories, Lucasfilms has released its statement regarding the split.
“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been an excellent collaborator throughout the development process, but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ.”
Also, the official statement states that “We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”
So What is Next for Star Wars: Episode IX?
The future of Star Wars: Episode IX has yet to be revealed in Star Wars’ statement. However, fans can still expect the movie’s production will continue even without Trevorrow.
Along with Trevorrow, Lucasfilms has also decided to ‘part ways’ with two more directors. The management also decided to let go of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller in June despite being halfway through the production.
Lucasfilms decided to fire the two after not agreeing to their ideas of sprinkling humor to the movie franchise. Whatever it is that is causing both parties from falling apart, Lucasfilm should quickly get their acts together. The vision should be clear to both sides or Star Wars may just be in for a lot of trouble.
